Some pre-exam fuel and fresh air

March 28th, 2014 by admin No comments »

Join Concordia Outdoors on a trip to the Sugar Shack (aka Cabane à Sucre) as little breather between exams and to celebrate Easter! Come pig out in a traditional Canadian all-you-can-eat brunch style grub full of sausage, bacon, ham, pancakes, eggs, creton, beans and potatoes to name a few, smothered in freshly tapped maple syrup.

Just 45 min out of Montreal, Au Toit Rouge will show you a good time and fill you up while enjoyed the last bits of snow and the fresh air of spring.

The trip is $30 and includes bus transportation, your meal and the tips, and obviously the great company. If you’ve ever been to a Sugar Shack before, you know how awesome they are, if not–this is your chance to experience one!

You can pay online in the Trip Registration section, or contact us on Facebook at facebook.com/groups/concordiaoutdoors

Outdoors CityWalk guided tour

November 9th, 2013 by admin No comments »

As promised, our November event will be a guided walking tour of some highlights of the city! Chris, a well-travelled, Montreal born and raised “city expert” will lead the tour, taking you through the underground city, in the old port and everywhere in between. Finally, we’ll end our trot at Auberge Jeunesse, the hostel at the end of Mackay for a drink!

$8 includes the entire 4-hour walk, plus a pint of beer at the last stop. You can purchase tickets on Paypal in the Trip Registration section, or stay connected on Facebook for updates about our office hours. Feel free to send us an e-mail or message too! Space is very limited due to the nature of the event, so act fast!

The walk begins at 2 pm and goes until 6 (You’ll see the city light up!), and we can all warm up and chill out at the bar afterwards.

What’s in store….

Alright, here we go! After a successful meeting last night, we’re proud to announce our next activities! Some we are still unsure of and others need fine-tuning, but here’s what we are planning for the next few months:

Nov.:
- Guided City tour with the infamous “Chris” and post-tour drinks
- A trip to an indoor rock climbing centre (probably Allez Up!)

Dec.:
- Getting a team together for Le Gym’s Terry Fox run, details to come shortly

Jan./Feb.
- Outing to the Banff film festival
- An intro to winter camping trip
- Skating activity
- Snowshoe activity
- Tubing activity

March:
- A longer winter camp/hike overnighter
- A scavenger hunt through the city

April:
- We can start hiking again
- a trip to a traditional Cabane a Sucre!

And of course our weekly runs throughout the year!

How does this all sound?
Sheldon Arcand Laliberte, Emilie Jane Boulanger, Nicolas Greenfield, we have our work cut out for us!

Details to come on the next endeavour, stay tuned!

You wanted another hike? We won’t disappoint!

Since our last hike to Tremblant was so successful, we’re going to do another!

Mid-terms have come to a close, so shake off that post-Halloween hangover and burn off those candy calories with a hike in the fresh air of the countryside.
The location is to be decided shortly, but it’s between Sutton and Mont St-Hilaire.
The cost is $15, which is includes your transportation and park entrance fee (wow, sweet deal!) and of course great company!
Join us, bring your friends, students and non-students welcome, for a post-apocalyptic trot all day in the deserted countryside!
You can buy your tickets/spots in the office, or purchase them on Paypal on our website in the Trip Registration section.

Oka camping trip drawing near!

October 6th, 2013 by admin No comments »

Wow, it’s already almost time for our Thanksgiving overnight trip!

We’ll be staying at les Gites Sous Les Pins, a lodge at Oka National Park. The rooms are quad occ., but we figure you won’t be spending much time in there anyways! We’ll provide you with a chilli dinner and s’mores dessert with a campfire, provide transportation to and from the site, cover your park entrance, and provide awesome company! You have all the freedom to explore the park Friday and Saturday, which hosts a ton of cool outdoors activities. Some are free, like hiking and hitting the beachside, other options including renting boats and bikes. Or you can just lounge around the lodge and sites and take a break from studying for midterms!

Friday night we’re hoping to have a campfire, (BYOB) and hang out!

You need to bring sheets, a bowl, water bottle and cutlery, any activities you want to do (does anyone have Apples to Apples?), food for your other meals (breakfast and lunch the next day) and whatever clothes you will need (all types of weather!)

The trip leaves Concordia Oct. 11th at either 12pm or 2pm, TBA, and will return on Saturday  the 12th at around 5:30-6pm. It’s going to be a lot of fun and there are still a few spots available! You can come by our office at 2020 Mackay, room P-103 to pay cash, or pay online using paypal on this site’s trip registration section!

Tubin’ Trip Report

February 8th, 2010 by Angelo 1 comment »

A small group of us went out to Glissades des Pays d’en Haut on Saturday, and had a blast shooting down the slope in various inflatable items.  Interest was really high on this trip, so hopefully we’ll be able to get another one going while the powder’s still out there!

Thanks to all that came out!  As a side note, this was my last event as an executive with CO, and I want to thank you all for your contributions to making this little club of ours something really fun, really easy, and really special.

Pack a lunch, or buy at the cafeteria there!
